Poem of the Porch
Poem of the Porch
A great symphony
Of bells and whistles and
Birdsongs;
Chatter amongst old friends and new.
I am startled by the icy ground –
Waking up my nerves
And warning me of winter.
Strings sit idly by,
Ready to be filled with the
Melody of today.
Numbers chant out place;
An anthem of belonging,
And engines add in their rumbling piece.
Most mornings like this,
I would be long gone,
Immersed in my daily duties,
But today I will join in
With the masterpiece.
May my voice have a hidden part,
My heart be warmed by color,
And my footsteps add a rhythm
Of their own.
